Bishop James Bokey Martin Mims

Bishop James Martin Mims, a lifetime resident of Amarillo, Texas was born September 20, 1953 and was called home to be with the Lord August 26, 2018.

Viewing will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church 3100 Angelus Dr. Amarillo, Texas 79107. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at New Light Ministries 1001 NE 24th Amarillo, Texas 79107, Reverend Eric James Mims Sr. – Eulogist. Burial – Llano Cemetery

He was a dedicated pastor and servant of God for the cause of the Kingdom. He pastored churches in Childress, Plainview, and Borger. He later became the Pastor and Founder of the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas for 28 years. Bishop Mims was well known throughout the Amarillo Community as well as the West Texas Panhandle area. He will be greatly missed. Bishop James Mims was a graduate of Palo Duro High School where he was also inducted into the Palo Duro Hall of fame. He furthered his education at Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He and his wife, Joyce Mims are the owners of Golden Gate Mortuary located at 1416 N. Hughes St. Amarillo, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Mims, Sr., mother, Ernest Mims Harris, stepfather, James E. Harris, and brother, Paul Mims, Jr.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce Mims of 40 years. Children: Reverend Eric J. Mims, Sr. (Adrienne) of Glenn Heights, Texas, Erica J. Reese (Julian) of Amarillo, Texas, Ebony J. Mims of Glenn Heights, Texas, Ernest J. Mims (LaTasha) of Tyler, Texas, James Martin Mims, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Michael D. McGruder (LaTisha) of Houston, Texas, and special son, and Demetrius Smith of Dallas, Texas, Sisters: Millicent Turner of Garland, Texas, Kathleen Mims of Mesquite, Texas, Alice Grays of Pampa, Texas. Brothers: R.H. Harris and Danny Harris both of Pampa, Texas, 18 Grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, a special friend Sylvania Jeffery, and a host of relatives and friends.

Jimmy Wayne Wysner was born on September 20, 1960, to the late M.C. Wysner and Doris B. Graves in Memphis, Tx.

Survivors include: Four daughters Tameka R. Hughes of Dallas; Tranetra R. Wysner of Amarillo; Toria D. Wysner of Dallas; Ashley R. Wysner of Dallas; Nine Grandkids Deonte’ Winzer, TaLiyah Dorsey, TaZariyah Dorsey, Chauncey Askew, Marcacious Askley, OnJalay Askey, Jalin Jones, TyLasia Finney, Ivy’Auna Finney; One brother T.C. Wysner of Amarillo; Three Sisters Darlene Rodriguez of Flower Mound, TX. Michelle Wysner Georage of Memphis, TX; Sasha Lamb of Las Vegas, Nevada; One Aunt Alice Fisher of Amarillo. On February 23, 1960, Lawrence Dale Durley, was born to David and Jewel Burks-Durley in Amarillo, TX. He later moved to Los Angeles where he attended High School and College. He moved back to Amarillo, in 1978, and at Anderson Merchandise is where he met the Love of his life Billie Ann Johnson, AKA “Candi”. They married one year later and this July 4th made 20 years of marriage.

Viewing will be held at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church Friday, July 20th, from 4pm-6pm, 3100 Angelus Dr. Amarillo, Texas.

Tommy Joe Gonzales was born March 18, 1976, he attended Sam Houston and Tascosa High School. He was an independent contractor as a wood floor tech.  He was a loving father, husband, son, nephew and grandson.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11am at Emmanuel COGIC, 900 N. Adams St.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary located at 1416 N. Hughes St. Amarillo Texas.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Mandy Smith Gonzales, his three daughters; Shinesha Luckey, Kerstin McGriff, Keonia Gonzales.  Stepdaughter; Kiley Flood three grandsons; Levance Walzier, Kaden Walzier, Kam’ryn McGriff, one granddaughter Jazlynn Demerson, two sisters; Sharon Fisher, Jeanette Gonzales, two stepsisters; Johnnie and Kisstin Cambell.  Brothers; Jesse, Maurice, and Jimmy Gonzales, Haze Rose, and Lamont Fisher, his grandmother; Lavonia Randle, and his nieces and nephew and twenty great nieces/nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Viewing will be held Tuesday June 19th at Emmanuel COGIC, 900 N. Adams St, Amarillo Texas from 4-6pm.

Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.

Garyan Lamont Cain

Garyan LaMont Cain was born to Gary Cain and Gilda (Shan) Gilbreath on April 21, 1992. Services will be held Saturday, May 12,2018 at 1pm, First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler St. Amarillo, Texas.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary.

He attended Carver ECA, Carver Academy, Sam Houston Middle School, and he graduated with the Palo Duro High School Class of 2011. Garyan loved being around family and friends. Unbreakable. His genuine smile lit up the room when he entered and his sincere “I Love You” was comforting when he exited. Garyan loved people and was able to express that with the customers at Fat Cat Fish & Grill where he was employed many years, alongside his father.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Gilbreath, Sr. and paternal grandparents, Freddie and Dorothy Cain.

Survivors include his parents, two children Jaden & Shantel, brothers: Kennison Gilbreath, Romello Sims, and Tre’Son Cain-Fugitt, sisters: Lexus Cain, Erica Cain, Jordan Cain, Mya Cain, Vanessa Cain, and Skylar Cain-Fugitt and a nephew Skye Sims.

Viewing will be held at Golden Gate Mortuary Chapel of Angels May 11, 2018 from 3pm-6pm. Located at 1416 N. Hughes St. Amarillo,Texas.   Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.
