Shirley Smith

Shirley Mae Smith was born February 22, 1961, in Amarillo, Texas to Dock and Flossie Smith.

Services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 3100 Angelus Dr, Amarillo Texas at 11 am, Burial will be at  Llano Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary.

She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the young age of thirteen. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1979, where she met and married her High School sweetheart Floyd Scott and to this union four children. Early in her life she moved to Pittsburg, California raising her four children as a single parent, where she worked as a Hospice and Mental Health Nurse for Kaiser Permanents for 10 years . Shirley was a kind, caring, and loving person. Throughout most of her life she worked more than one job doing home care assistance where she was deeply loved by the patients she took care of. She returned home to Amarillo, Texas and joined Ebenezer Church of Amarillo, under Pastor Gail Hall until the Lord called her to her eternal home.

She is proceeded in death by her grandmother Mary Wright Hall of Amarillo, Texas.

She leaves to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy; Three Daughters: Terrica, Lucretia and Patricia; Son:Floyd; ​Grandchildren: Makaela, Saimukai Jr, Takaia, Jasmyn, Tommy the IV, Floyd the III and Jayhala​.

Viewing will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Golden Gate Mortuary Chapel of Angels 1416 N. Hughes St. Amarillo, Texas from 3 pm – 6 pm.

Rickey Ray Graves

Rickey Ray Graves, 50, born March 22, 1967 to Genell and Charles W. Graves in Memphis, Texas.

Services will be held Thursday December 14th at 11am in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 3100 Angelus Dr., Amarillo, Texas 79107.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary 1416 N Hughes St, Amarillo, Texas.

He attended school in Amarillo, TX. He was employed at the V.A. Hospital. He loved spending time with family and friends he loved having fun and was full of laughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents Genell Dunlap and Charles W. Graves and a brother Charles D. Graves.

He is survived by his sister Genetter F. Graves, four aunts; Alice Fisher (Sherman) Amarillo, TX, Peggy Tutson (Floyd) Rowlett,  TX, Betty Williams (George) Garland, TX, Tressa Fields Dallas, TX, one uncle; Otis Fields (Gail) Austin, TX and wife Vera Graves of Houston, TX and a host of cousins.

Charles E Levi

Charles E. Levi

 

Charles E. Levi was born October 30, 1952, to Mary Levi and Ernest Payne Jr. in Pampa, TX.

Memorial services will be held 11am  Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church located at 3100 Angelus Dr, Amarillo, TX  with Bishop James M. Mims -Pastor.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary 1416 N Hughes St, Amarillo Texas.

 

He attended school in Pampa, TX.  He was a former employee of Moss Body Shop. He loved Christmas, especially the giving part. He loved being around kids and found satisfaction in helping others. He was always laughing and joking with people.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Constance Gains, his mother and father.

He leaves to cherish his memory his grandson; Tevin Charles Gains of Borger, TX, three sisters; Jessie, Barbara, and Phyllis of Amarillo, one aunt Alice Fisher of Amarillo, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Alicia RaShawn Burks

Alicia RaShawn Burks, was born October 15, 1991, in Amarillo, TX.

Services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11 am in Temple of Praise Community Church, 1900 Amarillo blvd West, Amarillo, TX 79107.  Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary.

Alicia attended Palo Duro High School where she loved playing volleyball, dancing, singing, and spending time with her children and interacting with her family. Collecting Tweety Bird was her hobby. She also helped raise her niece La’Nazeah (Snook) Porter. Moosie was a very sweet, loving, kind devoted daughter, mother, granddaughter, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was employed with Popeye’s for five years.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Jack & Naomi (Red) Burks, Ernest Randle, and Donald Porter.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother Sherrell Strickland and father Bernard Porter. Her daughter; Jae’lee Burks, two; sons Zion & Honary Burks, her fiance; Shawn Johnson, two sisters; Ashton Porter, Akashia Strickland, and a host of relatives and friends.

Anna Mary Wilson

Anna Wilson Mary

Anna Mary Wilson, 81 passed away at her home on October 30, 2017 in Amarillo, TX.

Services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Victory Church, 6300 Arden Road in Amarillo, TX with Pastor David Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery, East.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary.

Anna or “Mrs. Mary” as most referred to her, was born on June 29, 1936 to Maurice and Beatrice Williams in Carthage, TX.  She attended public schools in Carthage and would later move to Amarillo in her late teens.  Shortly after moving to Amarillo, Anna met Joe Wilson who she would later marry and have one child.  Anna and Joe shared their lives together for fifty plus years. Anna made a living working at the Silver Grill Café in her earlier years and as a house keeper in private homes for over 30 years. She loved sewing and preparing meals for her family from scratch, but she also had an extensive collection of cookbooks and recipes in which she loved to share with others.  Anna gave her life to Christ at an early age and she was a faithful member of Victory Church for many years until she became ill earlier this year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Beatrice Williams; one brother, Maurice Williams, Jr.; and a sister, Billie Ruth Williams-Adams.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Wilson of the home; one daughter, Jo Ann Wilson, of Amarillo; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Williams and Helen Louise Sample of Carthage, TX; a special niece, Debra Marie Adams of Homer, La; and Cynthia Williams, of Carthage, TX; and a nephew, Larry Williams of Carthage, TX; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family would like to give a Special Thanks to Dr. Richard Chandler and his staff at Chandler Clinic and to Dr. Thahir Farzan and his staff at BSA GYN Oncology, as well as, to the nurses and staff on the third floor of BSA Hospital (Women’s Center) for their special care of our sweet mother over the years.  The family would also like to thank the nurses, providers, and caregivers at Home Care Connections, Kindred Hospice, Ruby Slippers Care, and Caring Senior Care for their time, love, and support of our family during this time.  We appreciate your great service, attitude, and concern for our family.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Golden Gate Mortuary located at 1416 North Hughes Street from 2pm to 4pm, as well as, one hour prior to the service.

Tysheena Flye, 15,  was born on Oct. 1, 2002. to Ella Mae Dean and McKinley Ray Flye.

In 2015, Tysheena was diagnosed with bone cancer and she fought long and hard for two whole years. On the 23rd of October, the fight was over and she went to be with the Lord. Tysheena had a smile that would light up the room and a lovable, caring, and sweet personality.

She is survived by both parents, Ella Mae Dean & McKinley Ray Flye.  Three sisters Mysheena Flye, Da’Janae Flye, Destinee Flye, and a brother Lee Spraglin Jr.

Kimberley Dawn Alexander was born December 17, 1965 to the parentage of John M. and Birdie Mae Alexander. She was reared in a Christian home professing her faith at New Covenant Baptist Church in Amarillo, under the leadership of Pastor James Mims. Kim graduated from Amarillo High School and attended the University of Houston. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends, and traveling as often as she could. Kimberley transitioned from this life on Thursday, September 21, 2017 to be reunited with her Mom and Dad and her beloved sister, Marcia.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  Four brothers, David and Jerome of Amarillo, Ronald (Anita) of Hemah Ca., Joey of Fort Worth, TX. Four Sisters, Billie L Ray of Pflugerville, Donna Kay Hughes of Amarillo, Wanda L Williams (Clarence) of Alabama. Linda Alexander Mims of Duncanville and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

Deborah Graves, 60, was born March 30, 1957, in Amarillo to Perry Mitchell Sr. and Narvella Mitchell.

Deborah loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the love of her life. She enjoyed helping others.  She attended Amarillo College and worked in the nursing field for over 25 years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Perry Mitchell Sr.; her mom, Narvella Mitchell, a brother Alfred Mitchell; a granddaughter, Porshonda Oliver; and two great-grandsons, King and Cornelius Jones.

Survivors include her three daughters; Carolyn Mitchell and Nathan Cleveland; Jeffery and Lidia Dailey of Amarillo; Toshiba Benard and James Brice of South Carolina, Grandchildren: Shakira Burks, Zaykeia Mitchell, Natavius Anderson, Chante Benard, Harmonie Anderson Porshena and Cecil Echols, Porshanra Oliver, Elroy Oliver III; Great Grandchildren and her siblings: A’nyla, Elsiah, Adalyn, Try’Nity, Tye’Leik, Cecil Jr.  Lisa and Perry Mitchell Jr. Harold Mitchell, John Mitchell, and Mary and David May and The Graves Family and nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.
