King Thomas

King Thomas, Jr. was born October 24, 1968 in Los Angeles, California to the late King Thomas, Sr. and Alice Faye Thomas.

Services will be held Monday, March 19, 2018 at 1pm Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.

King attended and graduated Clarksville High School. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the military as a “R A”. He was honorably discharged from the 5/9 Infantry as a Seargent HHC 4th BN 12th IN (USAREUR E5) in 1995. Prior to meeting Lurketia Jones, King rededicated his life to God at Carter Chapel C.M.E. in 2013. On July 12, 2014, King and Lurketia were married. King was dedicated to his family. He loved music, fishing, playing dominoes and chess and had a passion for motorcycles. He was an alumni of the Rough Rider Biker Club – where he rode along side his Ride or Die “potna”, Quincy Reasonover. King and Lurketia enjoyed life and each other. The love that King and Lurketia shared was seen on their face in the many photos that were taken while they were vacationing in many wonderful vacation spots. They also enjoyed their many trips with Valerie and Willie Tennon.

King was preceded by his father, King Thomas, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Lurketia; mother, Alice Faye Thomas (Clarksville, Texas); four children: Joshua Thomas, King Thomas, III, Princess Faye and Angel. Stepchildren: Curtis Smith, III, LaKrystal Smith and Jerryl Walzier; two sisters Yolanda Williams (Clarksville) and Shandra Lott (Amarillo) and a brother Cleveland and Melissa (Clarksville). He is also survived by his father-in-law, T J Jones (Sally) and sister-in-laws Terry JoAnn Reid (Abilene) and Marshey and Vincent Ford (Rockwell)and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He leaves behind his legacy, his smile and his zest for life. You will be missed King.

Viewing will be held, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Golden Gate Mortuary Chapel of Angels from 3pm-6pm.

Bobby Phea

Bobby Phea

Mr. Bobby Phea (Dog) was born in Vernon, Texas to Mary K. Green.

Services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1pm at Greater Love Temple Church Amarillo, Texas.

He is one of nine siblings. He was married to Gwen Phea from 1998 to 2008. He is engaged to Veronica Madison from Killeen, Texas. He is the proud father of five children. Bobby cared deeply for people always willing to give a helping hand. He was quick to forgive and always there when he was needed. Bobby was a good father and grandfather. He was a talented mechanic and artist. He graduated from Central Texas College as a Diesel Engine Specialist and Automotive Mechanic. Bobby was always smiling and was encouraging people to laugh. He had a big heart and was very humble.

He is survived by four brothers; Anthony Phea, Donald Luper, Miles Luper, Marlon Bailey, and Warminski Bonner, and three sisters; Angela Graves, Valencia Bonner, Pamona Bonner. He is the proud father of five children; Talisha Vinson, Bobby Phea Jr., Yance Phea, Avory Phea, and Quincey Phea.

Ella F. Crain

Ella F Crain

Ella Faye Crain Was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas on September 29, 1946, to Edward and Margret Johnson.  She worked as a care giver until she retired in 1993.

Services will be at St. John Baptist Church 2301 NW 14th St. Amarillo Texas at 2pm Saturday, March 3, 2018 with Pastor Anthony B. Harris, Eulogist. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.

She is preceded by her parents; Edward and Margaret Johnson, Two brothers; Robert Johnson and Elbert Johnson, Sr.

She is survived by Three children; Tanya Crain, Billy and Joseph Welch all of Amarillo. Three sibling; Ruby Johnson, Lela Anderson and Charles Johnson all of Amarillo. Four grandchildren; Daphaney Berry, RayShawn, DeShawn, and Torrey Welch. Three great grandchildren; KeyShawn, Royale Welch, Zariyaah Welch all of Amarillo and a host of nieces, nephew, and cousins.

Viewing will be held from 4pm-6pm Friday, March 2, 2018.

Willie Lee Riley Sr

Willie Lee Riley Sr. was born on December. 19, 1943 in Wellington, Texas.

The services will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 at 10am at Carter Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 1400 NW 11th St. Amarillo, Texas with Elder Herman Moore-Pastor.  Arrangements provided by Golden Gate Mortuary 1416 N Hughes St. Amarillo, Texas.

Willie attended school in Wellington. He married the love of his life Violean McClendon on November 9, 1987. Willie was well-known for fishing and hunting rabbits with his greyhounds.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents; Garfield Riley and Inez Gray, his sons; Steven Riley (G-Hop) and Willie Thomas Riley.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory; wife Violean Riley, two brothers; James Thomas Riley ( Alice) Amarillo, Texas, Foster Riley Plainview, Texas, two sons; Willey Riley Jr. (Lori) Dallas, Texas, James Craig Moody (Carolyn) Hugo, Oklahoma, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, February 16, 2018  Golden Gate Mortuary Chapel of Angels  from 4pm to 6pm.

Joe F Wilson

Joe Wilson

Joe was born on July 28, 1940 in Hillsboro, Texas to Fred and Mamie Wilson.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11 am in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 3100 Angelus Dr. Amarillo, TX.  Bishop James Mims and Pastor Bennie Anderson, Eulogist. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery, East.

The family moved to Amarillo, TX in 1944 where they would settle. Joe attended public schools in Amarillo, and began working at an early age. He was employed for several years with Glover’s Meat Packing Plant and spent 30 plus years working at Asarco Copper Refinery where he retired in 2001.

In his early years, Joe met Anna Mary Wilson, who he would later marry and have one child. Joe and Anna shared their lives together in Amarillo for fifty plus years. Joe was a former member of Markwell Masonic Lodge #415 and Ozair Temple #146.

He is preceded in death by his lovely wife Anna Mary Wilson, his parents, Fred and Mamie Wilson; a brother Charles Wilson; and his only sister Ella Christine Lynch.

He is survived by his only daughter, Jo Ann Wilson, of Amarillo; one brother, Edward C. Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Viewing will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Golden Gate Mortuary located at 1416 North Hughes Street from 4pm – 6pm, as well as, one hour prior to the service.

David Cardwell Sr

David Cardwell Sr


David Caldwell Sr was born December 8, 1928 in Tabor, Texas. He attended school in Bryan, Texas.

Services will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11 am, at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 3100 Angelus Dr., Amarillo, Texas.

David moved to Pampa, Texas in the early 50′s and later moved to Amarillo in the early 60′s. During that time David was in construction work. He was the previous owner of the Kitty Kat Lounge, and then later became self-employed as a farmer. He had a passion for animals, fishing, gardening, and of course, “Dominoes”.

He is survived by his eight children; Vicki Norman (Jerry) Borger, TX, Mary Asberry (Carl) Amarillo, TX, David Caldwell Jr. (Pat) Pampa, TX, Henry Williams Liberal, KS, Evelyn Lemons, Bryan, TX, Carmella Bishop, Dallas, TX, Verna Light (Donald) Atlanta, GA.

Viewing will be Thursday, February 1st from 3pm-6pm, at Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes.

Services was Friday January 5, 2018 at Wildwood Baptist Church located at 60 NE 63rd Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Pastor Morris Holmes Eulogists. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Viewing was Thursday January 4th at Rolfe Funeral Home 2936 NE 36th St Oklahoma City, OK.

He is preceded in death by his mother Odessa Bailey his father Esley Bailey Sr and sister Mary Haskins.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy; his wife Ella, sisters Kathleen (Otis) Anthony, Yvette(Herman) Jefferies, Dorothy (Ray) Fields, Felita Bailey (Delroy), Greta (Joseph) Rucker, Toroy Jones, His children Kristen Nicole Bailey, Esley Jerome Bailey.
