Charles E. Sims, 60, died Friday, April 15, 2016, in Lubbock.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop James Mims, pastor, officiating and Elder Gary Thomas as eulogist. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Charles was born Dec. 24, 1958 in Waco to Richard Dotson and Mary L. Sims. He attended Palo Duro High School and was involved in athletics. He also was a coach for Kids Inc. He loved his kids and was very family oriented.

Survivors include seven children, Rochelle Sims of Phoenix, Charles Sims of Washington, Chad McKelvy of Carrollton, Ebony Sims of Lubbock and Sasha Sims, Trasia Sims and Tavia Sims, all of Amarillo; and several brothers and sisters.

Waymond Pierson

Waymond Pierson, 57, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Saint John Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Waymond Pierson was born Sept. 4, 1958, to Charlie and Bethenia Pierson. He was an identical twin to Raymond Pierson, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He was self-employed in maintenance until his health failed. He was known for his volunteer work and received a certificate for 10 years of service at Catholic Family Services. He attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Farrah McGhee; a granddaughter, Brieannah Tolbert; four sisters, Charlene Watson, Sarah McCullough and Joyce Henderson and husband Chester, all of Amarillo, and Eula Johnson of San Diego; and two brothers, Larry Pierson of Amarillo and Eugene Pierson and wife Diane of San Diego.

Johnathan Eli Drizzle

Johnathan Eli Drizzle, 36, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 9, 2016.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop James Mims, pastor, and the Rev. B.F. Roberts of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Plainview as eulogist. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Johnathan Eli Drizzle was born April 4, 1980, to Jonny and Diana Drizzle in Naples. He was a graduate of Tascosa High School and was employed during his life by the city of Amarillo. He was considered a “true friend with a big heart” by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Drizzle.

Survivors include his father, Johnny Earl Drizzle; a sister, Carmen Elaine Drizzle; two sons, Dante Drizzle and Demarcus Medina; three nieces; four nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Freddie Alexander Ashley, 85, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Dallas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Saint John Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Harris, pastor, officiating and the Rev. V. Martin, pastor of Greater Mount Olive, as eulogist. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Mr. Ashley was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Hillsboro. He was a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Freddie C. Kinlaw and wife Gwen, Rosa N. Johnson, Karl Z. Ashley, Gerald D. Ashley and Laue Ashley; two sisters, Shirley Watts and Henrietta Morgan; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Brenda Joyce Bibles

Brenda Joyce Bibles, 66, died Sunday, March 27, 2016.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Light Ministries with Bishop Richard and Eleanor Murray, pastor, and the Rev. Leo Bibles New Zion Primitive Baptist Church as eulogists. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Brenda Joyce Bibles, 66, of Amarillo, Texas, entered Heaven’s gates on Sunday, March 27, 2016. She was born May 27, 1949, in Honey Grove to Marvin Chaffin and Jennie Mae.

She was united in marriage to Charles R. Bibles Sr. on May 25, 1968, in Amarillo. Brenda was a graduate of Carver High School and Amarillo College with an associate’s degree in nursing in 1972, and she immediately sat for her state board and became a registered nurse.

Brenda had a long and fulfilling career in nursing and served countless patients in her 30 years in the field beginning in home health, progressing to dialysis and ending with 25 years of service at Baptist St. Anthony’s.

Brenda served as a faithful member at her church, New Light Ministries, for more than 30 years and truly enjoyed helping and serving others and worshipping her Lord.

Survivors include her dedicated husband, Charles R. Bibles Sr.; a daughter, Carla Bibles; a son, Charles R. Bibles, Jr. and wife Jennifer; her grandbabies, Brynn and Emersyn; and three sisters and a brother, Ms. Sally Johnson, Mrs. Alethea First and husband Russell, Ms. Commilla Chambers and Ray Alexander.

The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas TX 75284.
