Hector Davis, 94, of Amarillo died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in North Height Church of Christ with Dock Smith as eulogist. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.
Hector A. Davis was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Mart to the late James Garner Davis Sr. and Leola Montgomery Davis. He departed this life Monday, Dec. 12, 2016.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age, attended Saint Mary Baptist Church in Mart and was baptized at age 90 by Brother Dock Smith in North Heights Church of Christ in Amarillo.
Mr. Davis was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Ruby Walker Davis on Sept. 13, 1955, in Fort Stockton. This union consists of four children, James E. Mitchell, Betty Smith, Toney Davis and Carla Davis.
He was a veteran of the Quartermaster Corps of the Army and received an honorable discharge.
He was employed by the city of Amarillo, from which he retired as a street worker. His employment history also consisted of him working as a mental health technician at The Pavilion and a nursing technician at the VA Hospital. He was also employed with the U.S. Postal Service and Franks Plumbing.
Survivors include a sister, Mattie Simmons; two daughters, Betty Smith and Carla Davis; a son, Toney Davis; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Mitchell; three sisters-in-law, Ocie Davis, Ollie Walker and Mary Brown; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
