Gladys Ethel Davis, 70, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop James Mims, pastor and eulogist, and Joyce Mims, co-pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.
Gladys was born March 10, 1945, in Greenville to Ruchell and Ethel Thomas Fields. She graduated from Doty High School in 1963, moved to Amarillo in 1964 and attended Drone Business College. She worked in insurance for several years. She loved spending time with her family and helping others.
She married Dempsey L. Davis on Nov. 26, 1974. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the New Covenant Missionary Baptist for 22 years. She enjoyed helping out in the kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruchell and Ethel Fields; a brother, R.L. Fields; and three sisters, Mildred Moore, Genell Dunlap and Jo Ann Roberts.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Dempsey L. Davis; her daughter, Shree Foster and husband William; a son, Eric Davis and wife Cindy, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Peggy Tutson and husband Floyd of Rowlett, Betty Lou Williams and husband George of Garland and Treasa Fields of Dallas; a brother, Otis Fields and wife Gail of Austin; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, all of Amarillo; and a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.
