Virgie J. Burns Scott, 70, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Prayer Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder Mal Carr as pastor and eulogist. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

On Jan. 15, 2017, Virgie Burns Scott earned her wings and went home to be with the Lord. She was born Dec. 4, 1946, to Bobbie M. Harris and Roy L. Humphrey in Austin. She was known as Jean, but lovingly known to many as Granny Jean, Miss Jean, and/or Aunt Jean.

She finished school in Austin and later relocated to Amarillo and attended business school. She was a retired care provider.

She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and enjoyed a personal relationship with God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy L. Humphrey; grandmother, Abby Scott; sisters, Evelyn Echols and Dorothy Addison; and a brother, Richard Scott.

Survivors include her mother, Bobbie Harris of Amarillo; her brother; Fennis Scott and wife Mae of Austin; three daughters, Maschon Owens, Nikkeya Dixon and LeKishia Burns, all of Amarillo; two sons, Andrew Burns Jr. and Derrick Burns, both of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
