Vincent R. “Big Man” Martin, 57, of Amarillo died Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Carter Chapel CME Church with pastor and eulogist, the Rev. Roy Walker, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Vincent Romel Martin, “Big Man,” was born March 15, 1960, in Amarillo to CM and Helen Martin.

He went to Palo Duro High School. He was a manager for Whataburger for 10 years and retired from Bob’s Taxi service after 10 years.

He was laid back, had a quiet personality and enjoyed his own space. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.

Survivors include his parents, CM and Helen Martin of Amarillo; a son, Robert Washington of Amarillo; four brothers, Wayne Banks and wife Evette of Terrell; CM Martin Jr. and wife Linda of Arlington; Richard Martin and David Martin and wife Lattica, both of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Quinton and Robbee Washington, both of Amarillo; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
